About Our Troop
2009 trip to DC/Poconos/Niagara Falls
We are a very dedicated group of young women who have been involved in Girl Scouts for up to 12 years. As a high school based troop, we are not only focused on living by the Girl Scout Law and Girl Scout Promise, we are striving towards becoming leaders in our community and ambassadors to the world.
- As a troop and as individuals, we have worked with younger Girl Scouts as Program Aids and Troop Assistants. With these young girls, we have helped to plant the seed that they can do anything, all they have to do is TRY! We help to build their self-esteem and self-confidence as ours' has been built-up through scouting.
- Every since we were young Brownies, our troop has been involved in service projects. One of our enduring service projects is the "Christmas Shoe-box Campaign" in which we delivery shoe-boxes filled with necessities and goodies to area Battered-Women's shelters and Women's & Children's homeless shelters. The project began very small, soliciting donations from our families and school. Now the project has been embraced by our community and surrounding cities. We collect several hundred boxes to donate and additional materials needed by the shelters. This has been a very rewarding experience that we will continue into our adult years.
- Being a troop filled with young women from diverse ethnicities and cultures, we have been fortunate to experience cultures different from our own. Even though we are young, we realize that the world is a large place filled with many diverse cultures than what surrounds us. The best way to learn about different cultures is to experience them and to interact with people of different cultures. In 2008, we traveled to Savannah, Georgia (the birthplace of Girl Scouts) and experienced some of the rich culture of the South. In 2009, we traveled to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Niagara Falls, Canada. This was the first time many of us have been out of the United States. This past summer (2012), we took a 17-day trip to Europe where we visited places such as Auschwitz, Rome, and London.
The purpose of this website is to share our experiences as Girl Scouts and to educate others that GIRL SCOUTING IS MORE THAN JUST SELLING COOKIES!
We hope that you enjoy our site!
Yours in Girl Scouts!
